Aging off the health insurance.

First off thank you for reading! As the title suggests I am aging off the health insurance, which ends soon…real soon.

I was a full time student until I graduated in May. I continue to work part time less than 20hr a week, make less than 10k this year so far, single, no children.

My employer offers health plans but I am not sure that is the best option for me. Does my part time status affect this? Perhaps every company is different but is it even viable to ask my employer if they offer insurance to someone who works less than 20hr/week? (They are a small company). Also, I am currently looking for full time employment and maybe changing employers before year end. Which would also drastically change my income as well. If I don’t find a new employer, I am going full time with my current employer at an estimated $3500 monthly pay in September.

It has been suggested to me to work with a broker but should I just reach out to my employers insurance resource? Does Medicaid have anything to do with this? The marketplace?

I just don’t know who to talk to first…

Any help suggestions or anything of that nature is greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading have a good day!
