So in September I gave birth to my son. Well I didn’t make it to the hospital and we had him on the side of the road. We called 911 and the fireman made it and delivered my son then we were transported via ambulance to the hospital. The claim went through insurance and according to insurance it was out of network but there is a covered amount and a not covered amount then patient responsibility according the insurance is $0. Cool awesome idk why it’s out of network all I did was call 911 I don’t have a choice who shows up (unless all ambulances are out of network?) well today I received a bill from the ambulance company for the same amount as the not allowed amount from insurance. I will be calling both the ambulance company and my insurance tomorrow, but am I really going to end up having to pay this? I tried to do some googling and I found the no surprise bill act but I’m unsure if ambulance rides fall under that.

I am really just frustrated because the paramedics/ambulance was just a RIDE to the hospital. The fireman are who delivered the baby and cut the cord. The paramedics did not arrive till after I delivered and loaded me on a stretcher and took me to the hospital (NOT to the hospital I even wanted to go to). Also because of where we were located on the highway they sent two different companies. The fireman were from one city and the ambulance was from another so it’s not like the services are just being grouped together which I’m not sure if any of this even makes a difference to billing.
