Clinic in-network but PCP out of network

So I was approved for Medicaid in Nebraska beginning in March. Because I am pregnant, our income was able to fall within those limits. I don’t expect to qualify for Medicaid forever, but I have a question about something in the meantime.

I have been an established patient at a local clinic for over 5 years now. I normally see the same nurse practitioner whenever I go. Now, we had been on a Marketplace plan since January 2022, but I stopped going to my PCP since January of this year because our previous Marketplace company was leaving Nebraska and the plan we went with starting 2023 did not have them in network (we sacrificed that for this year in order to have a reasonable premium and still have my preferred OB in network).

Now since I got on Medicaid, we dropped our previous coverage. My husband has a policy through his work and our other two kids are also on Medicaid. When I go to our Medicaid portal (it’s a plan through UHC), I find that my PCP’s clinic is in network, along with the main physician at that clinic. However, her (my PCP) name does not show up. I asked the clinic and they said they do accept Medicaid, but I should check with my plan to be sure. So I called them today and the lady confirmed what I was seeing. She said that I should be able to still see my PCP, but they would probably need to submit claims as being “under the supervision” of the physician who is listed as in network, with his provider ID, as long as I see her at that location.

Is that something people can do? I have no real reason to disbelieve what the lady told me on the phone, I just am not sure how to word it correctly when reaching out to the clinic to confirm or see how they would bill a visit with her.

I haven’t had a need to go to my PCP during the pregnancy because most things I run through my OB, but I’m due in a few weeks so I want to have this figured out so if anything else comes up after baby is born, I know I can see my PCP (or not).
