I received a virtual therapy session from a psychiatrist who works with a treatment center. The center is focused on addiction treatment but also did adhd aid, which is what I was seeking treatment for. I am a dependent on my dads Cigna insurance and this treatment center is in my network.

For Mental Health office visits, my coverage says “In-network deductible is waived, you pay $30 until the out-of-pocket maximum is met”

But I got charged $160. I even questioned the medical assistant and told her I was expecting to only pay $30, but she said because I haven’t met my deductible that I had to pay $160. But then I reviewed my coverage and I’m almost sure that I was supposed to only pay $30. I’m not super familiar with insurance claims or anything which is why I’m asking here. I called the treatment center back and they said the billing center would call me back to figure out if I needed a refund, but I still haven’t received any call back or communication.

My question is, was I overcharged? And will calling Cigna customer support help me in getting my money back?
