(F25, Florida, Insurance Claims) Health Insurance May Drop: Upcoming Surgery

(Single, F25, Florida, Insurance Claims)

Recently, I found an in-network surgeon for a bisalp surgery. This surgery is scheduled for September 15.

Right now, I have United Health Care through my new workplace (4 months). Last week they got bought out by a huge company. Even though my COO said I would keep my job and nothing would change until February, I can see the writing on the wall.

This being said, I am beyond scared that I will get let go and lose my insurance after the surgery has been performed and the claim is still open. Here are my questions:

What do I do if my claim is open and I lose my insurance?

Do I suck it up and go with COBRA?

Do I reschedule my surgery until I know what is happening?

Additionally, this new company has an insurance plan that is “better” and apparently covers more benefits. Let’s say I’m not fired directly after my surgery and they decide to keep me:

Will my claim still be open?

Will switching insurances ruin my coverage of the claim?

How long does it take for insurance to process the surgery claim?

Sincerely, a very anxious individual.
