So I filed a bunch of mental health claims with Cigna, as I did regularly, and for some reason they decided this time to issue the reimbursement checks to my providers rather than to me (as I previously had always asked them to do). My providers kindly let me know of this mistake and said they would not cash in the checks. I called Cigna, informed them of what happened, and that they owed me around $4k and should cancel the old checks and issue new checks for those claims. That's when my nightmare began.

Cigna has lied to me about the status of this request, has asked me to refile the claims saying that they would be processed (they were denied as duplicates), canceled my request alleging that they were missing information which was not missing at all. They even said at one time that they had fulfilled the request and that a check was sent, but when I got their letter, it was a $150 check for a totally unrelated claim. I have called them over 10 times, it's been months, and this is all clearly a bad faith scheme on their part to make me give up on the money. I'm being scammed.

I don't know what to do anymore, except file a suit against them. Hopefully I can get damages for emotional distress because this money is significant to me, and being disrespected and gaslighted like this has really increased my daily levels of stress and anxiety.

TL;DR: Cigna made a mistake when issuing checks for approved claims and refuses to reissue them to me. Their representatives keep me jumping through nonsensical loops to push me to give up on the money.
