I’m turning 26 in a month — I have no idea where to start

If I am currently uninsured (working part time without benefits and did not secure ACA health insurance during open enrollment) and I need to have surgery before open enrollment next year, can I quit my part time job to join another with benefits to gain health insurance? Do I need to wait til 2023?

In 34 days, I will be turning 26 and will lose my health insurance. I am currently in a full-time Masters program in Los Angeles and I am working in DC for the summer. I also have ADHD and my doctor is based in LA but not affiliated with the school.

I need health insurance that meets the school’s requirements. But the school’s plan seems too expensive ($160/month) and I am not sure if it would cover my ADHD prescription.

I went to healthcare.gov, but I am unsure of what to put for my location (as I am currently in DC, but will return to LA for most of the year before coming back to DC after graduation) and income (I will no longer have an income at the end of the summer).

I have no idea where to start — none of the plans seem to say if they cover what I need them to cover.

An additional, but related problem: My doctor gave me a month’s supply for my prescription, and I am in DC for the summer. Every provider in DC does not have availability until after my medication runs out. What do I do?
