Medicaid eligibility question from a new grad!

Hi – looking for health insurance advice! I recently graduated from grad school and got my first job. My start date is mid-July. I’ve been enrolled in Medicaid for the past 2 years since I had virtually no income and was living on student loans. I’ve looked at my benefits package for my job, and the health insurance is okay, but I’d definitely be paying a lot more out of pocket with premiums and deductibles than I am for Medicaid (expected, of course). My re-enrollment in Medicaid is coming up and I think I would just have to submit my 2021 tax return to re-apply – which would mean I could possibly be approved for another year of Medicaid.

I don’t know a lot about health insurance and I’m struggling to find info on this online, so my genuine question is – since I’ll be making enough to not really qualify for Medicaid soon, is it illegal or unethical for me to reapply for one more year since my 2021 tax return would qualify me? Am I required to enroll in my company’s health insurance plan, or is it optional? Since I have a lot of student loans, I’m trying to save as much of my income as possible to pay these off quickly – which is mainly why I was curious about this.

Thanks in advance for any input/advice!
