Need help – Medicare in Ohio

Hello everyone – would really be grateful and appreciative for some help on resources regarding a recent health issue with my father in Ohio and how Medicare works.

My father owns his own business and has stopped paying his medical mutual insurance at the end of 2021. He currently is 65, currently living in Cleveland, and has Ohio Medicare as his coverage. Due to a really terrible six months for him, he was admitted to the ICU last month for alcohol withdrawal. He was in the hospital for about 10 days and then was transferred over to nurse assisted PT home, which is he only able to stay in for 20 days due to Medicare. We are unsure about his cognition and how he will improve, along with his movement..he’s able to feed himself and wheel around in a wheelchair, and is improving little by little everyday. We are not sure how to move forward after the 20 days – he will definitely need to go to another nurse assisted PT home or, if he is better with his cognition and mobility, an alcohol rehab. Does anyone have resources on the rules of Medicare and if he is able to go to another nurse assisted PT? Will Medicare cover alcohol rehab? Is there a way for him to be reinstated from his previous Medical Mutual so we can get him better coverage? Our families financial situation is not strong right now and we are looking to understand what is the best we can do with him with health insurance. Any advice would be so helpful as it has been very hard navigating this medical space.
