Negotiating and allowed amount

THANK YOU for your time and interest in helping me.

Next week, I will go to my hospital to negotiate a medical bill.

I already asked the hospital for an itemized bill.

My doctor assigned two (2) CPT codes.

I went into the hospital one day.

My hospital is in-network.

I was an out-patient.

THIS IS the EOB:

First (1st) line:

Hospital’s amount billed: $1,900

Allowed amount: $870

My insurance plan paid $0

Deductible: $870

What I owe: $870

Second (2nd) line:

Hospital’s amount billed: $1,000

Allowed amount: $250

My insurance plan paid $0

Deductible: $250

What I owe: $250

TOTAL that I owe: $1,120

Both lines are for the same date.

QUESTIONS:

Because my doctor assigned two (2) CPT codes, can the hospital charge the insurance twice for the same day?

FairHealthConsumer.org said that the fair costs for the procedures for hospitals (out-patient, in-network) are $769 and $493.

If my hospital were to resubmit the claim with the amounts billed as $769 and $493, would that lower the allowed amount and lower what I owe? How can I find out what the allowed amount would be?
