Resolved – Unable to Login to Healthcare.gov with 2FA

Backstory: I was laid off in April and so submitted an application to healthcare.gov. During signup, they recommended using 2FA (2 factor identification, meaning getting a text message with a code needed to sign in along with user name and password) so I set that up too. I applied normally and was waiting on them for identification verification. I successfully logged in using 2FA when I first signed up. A week later I get an email saying I have a new message so I try to login to view it. I can't login. I've tried logging on at various times for the past week but I keep getting:

Account security codes are temporarily turned off
We're making changes to protect HealthCare.gov accounts. We should have this feature back up and running soon. If you already set up your account to get security codes, you don’t need to take any action once we turn the security codes back on.

I use my correct user name and password and I also receive a text message with the code, there's just no place to use it. The error message has a button to "Go to account settings" but since I'm not logged in it doesn't work.

Question: Is anyone else using 2FA able to log in or is it somehow a problem with just my account? Since it's been down for over a week I would have expected to find some complaints about it online yet searches don't turn up anything. I'm thinking of calling them to see if I can get 2FA disabled, but if they cared about security then that shouldn't be possible. Though if they cared then it should have been disabled automatically when they took their 2FA system offline.

Resolution: I actually figured it out while I was writing this post, but I'm going to post it anyway in case someone else has the same problem. My ad blockers were preventing the security code page from displaying and for some really stupid reason the website was displaying that "we're working on this" message instead of a real error message. What a horrible anti-user feature that someone probably thought was a friendly user feature.

Even though you didn't need to do anything, you guys were really helpful. Thanks 🙂
