What should I do to pay as little out of pocket as possible?

My current plan is $120 premium a month for my wife and myself. Our deductible is $6,800 annually. There are 2 plan options, and we currently have the plan with the lowest premiums and highest deductible. For reference, the other plan is $290 a month premium, and $3,200 deductible.

My wife discovered she is pregnant a few weeks ago. She is due late December of this year. Obviously that is around the time of open enrollment period. A possible life event change that we may be eligible for right now is she took a new job recently starting in august, but will be unemployed between now and then.

I have no clue what to expect in terms of costs between now and when the baby comes (current plan details: prenatal care covered at 100%, childbirth and services 20% after deductible), but I am having a hard time weighing out my options given these choices. Like everyone else, I’m just trying to pay as little out of pocket as possible so we have more cash on hand for when the baby is here.

Thank you for your input!
