Overview

Demand remains high for the Kia Telluride. Its popularity is no surprise, given the SUV’s well-rounded package with handsome styling and a bargain price. The Telluride offers a generous set of standard features throughout its range, and its top trim manages to deliver an elevated experience that’s comparable to SUVs that cost twice as much. A smooth-running V-6 engine, quiet cabin, and confident handling give the Telluride a refined feel on the road, too. An updated model is soon to drop with styling and feature enhancements that should increase the Telluride’s appeal even further. What’s New for 2023?

A styling refresh for 2023 that updates the Telluride to make it even more attractive, but it appears as though there are larger changes in store for the SUV’s interior. From a teaser image released by Kia, we can see a large free-standing instrument panel that seems to serve both as a digital gauge display and infotainment. We’ve seen similar layouts on luxury vehicles including the BMW iX, the Cadillac Escalade, and the Mercedes-Benz GLS-class, so it seems Kia is taking a note from the class above.

Pricing and Which One to Buy

If the restyled Telluride continues to be offered with the same value-oriented pricing as the 2022 model, we can’t help but recommend going with the SX trim. It delivers a near-luxury experience with all the bells and whistles at a reasonable price. Engine, Transmission, and Performance

Barring any surprise announcements, we’re expecting the Telluride to continue to offer the 2022 model’s 3.6-liter V-6 and eight-speed automatic transmission, a powertrain we’ve praised for its smooth operation and adequate power. There’s a chance Kia could drop in a turbocharged four-cylinder as a base engine or perhaps add a hybrid powertrain option such as the one in the slightly smaller Sorento SUV.

From the teaser image, we gather that the current 10.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system is being replaced by a much larger display that will stretch across the dashboard and join up with a digital gauge display behind the steering wheel. The Telluride’s current tech features should all still be offered, including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and wireless smartphone charging capability.
