Our big van winner announced – could you be next?
At A-Plan it’s all about our clients and wanting to go above and beyond for them. So, we had the idea of doing something a bit different for our tradespeople and van clients.
Richard Easterbrook, Commercial Director at A-Plan explains.
“As we approached A-Plan’s 60-year anniversary we wanted to do something big to benefit our existing trade and van driving clients, as well as spread the A-Plan word more widely and show that we’re on the side of those in the buildings trade.
“From speaking with our clients in the trade, we knew that they had been hard hit by van and material price inflation and that it was, and continues to be, tough in the current economic climate. Therefore, the competition was partly about saying ‘thank you’ to those tradespeople and small businesses for cracking on and getting the job done.“
In order to help raise awareness of this, A-Plan created a competition whereby existing and prospective clients could enter if they simply got a quote for van or public liability insurance, with the prize being a brand-new Ford Transit Custom Limited Van in grey worth over £37,000.
“The great news was that our van competition was open to both new and existing clients.” continues Richard. “Existing clients with public liability cover who got an A-Plan van insurance quote were eligible, as well as our existing van clients who got a public liability quote. Tradespeople not yet with A-Plan could enter by getting either a public liability or van insurance quote – and with no commitment to buy!”
With that, and the van secured, the competition launched in early October 2022 and ran through until early February 2023.
The response was fantastic with massive support from the A-Plan client-facing teams who used every opportunity to tell existing clients about the competition and give them the chance to win, and over 2,500 members of the trade, who hadn’t known about A-Plan before getting a quote.
We have a winner!
The winner was selected at random, and the team were thrilled to contact Mr Liam Underdown, an electrician who lived in Maidenhead, and an existing van client of the A-Plan Solihull branch.
A-Plan’s Nigel Courtnage, from the Solihull branch, who had spoken to Mr Underdown to make him aware of the competition and encourage him to get a public liability quote joined Richard in delivering the good news and the van!
Nigel commented “Liam couldn’t take the smile off his face the whole time we were with him, and he’d even kindly bought me a few beers as a thank you for entering him into the competition!”
Mr Underdown added “I couldn’t quite believe it was true until the van came rolling down the street – right up until it was delivered my wife was convinced it was a scam! What a fantastic initiative and an example of how A-Plan is always thinking about its clients.”
Everyone at A-Plan wishes Mr Underdown well and are delighted that one of our clients has benefitted from the competition in such a positive way.
