Lawrence A. Pagenkopf

Algoma – Lawrence “Larry” Albert Pagenkopf, 80 years old, passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2021. He was born on March 15, 1941, to the late Harold and Helen “Alice” (Henquinet) Pagenkopf, in Sturgeon Bay WI. On August 13, 1960, he married Eunice Hogan at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Institute.

Larry attended Carlsville Grade School in Carlsville, Sevastopol High School in Institute, and Door-Kewaunee Normal Teachers College in Algoma. He taught at Pioneer Grade School in Fond du Lac from September 1960 until January 1964 and then became a New York Life Insurance Agent. The family moved to Sturgeon Bay where he sold life and health insurance. In 1969 he passed his securities license and sold investment product. He was a member of the Sturgeon Bay Jaycees, volunteer fireman and sheriff deputy, and other community organizations. He enjoyed hunting and shooting trap as a member of Rod and Gun club. He was a softball player and sponsored a team. He helped build the Jaycee Softball Field. After retiring he and Eunice moved to Wausaukee to the log home they built together. While there, he was a volunteer Ambulance driver. Until recently he spent his winters in Mission, TX.

Larry is survived by five children: Scott Pagenkopf of Redwood City, CA; Kim (Tom) Van Schaack of Counce, TN; Mark Pagenkopf of Oconto Falls, WI; and Pam (Phil Nuckolls) Pagenkopf of Savannah, TN. Five grandchildren: Austin (Franka Schauss) Marks; Karen (Rafael Tabic Borja) Marks de Tabic; Morgan Pagenkopf (and her mother Tina Pagenkopf); Cole (fiancé Janel Musil) Pagenkopf; and Brice Pagenkopf. Two great grandchildren Victoria and Luca Marks. Special friend Rita Lorsung. Brother Leslie Pagenkopf. Several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice, who passed away December 10, 2011; his son Barry Pagenkopf, who passed away April 19, 2007; and his parents Harold and Helen Pagenkopf.

Visitation will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Algoma, WI on Monday January 31, 2022, from 9:30-11:00 am. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am with Fr. Tony Birdsall officiating. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Burial will take place in the Forest Home Cemetery in Athelstane, WI on Wednesday, February 2, 2022.
