No longer eligible for Employer provided Life Insurance after transferring to a lower FTE position – 27 with a child, best suggestions for a new policy that can gain cash value? Medical exam questions as well!

Thanks in advance for any help/advice!

I’m a nurse transferring departments at my hospital to a position that in a nutshell pays much more but will not be eligible for employer benefits package with the exception of a 401K

So I’m down to life insurance. Previously I had roughly 200K which was the max I was eligible for through my employer coverage. I’d like to have at least 500k with a new policy.

Not sure where to start so I’ve looked at USAA as I already have an auto policy through them. Open to suggestions and information on policies that gain cash value that can be used eventually if you don’t die.

I hit a hard stop on the policies requiring a medical exam (which also seemed to be the better policies). Is it a one and done medical exam or are you required to do lifelong medical exams throughout the duration of the policy?

I’m a 27 year old female with a BMI of 19.5. I occasionally will use a Juul device that contains nicotine but not daily and could of course stop before the exam – do these exams typically do hair tests or urine/blood tests for nicotine? I have no real medical problems aside from ADD/ADHD diagnosed in childhood. I see a provider every 3-6 months and am prescribed Adderall. That’s my only routinely prescribed medication. I get nervous during physical exams and literally can not help it I’ve tried (obviously no caffeine or other stimulants before the exam). This is not my baseline but my vitals are usually elevated in the office. How would a HR of say, 100-110bpm and a BP of 140/80 effect my medical exam results for coverage?
