AXIS Capital, the Bermuda headquartered specialty insurance and reinsurance company, has announced the hiring of Miranda Hunter as its new Head of Investor Relations, who will join the company from her last position with ILS asset manager Aeolus Capital Management.

At AXIS Capital, Hunter will yake up responsibility for the firm’s engagement with the investment community, as well as proactively communicating its vision, strategy, and financial approach.

Having previously been Head of Investor Relations at AIG’s Bermuda based specialty underwriting arm Validus where she spent a decade working, Hunter is already experienced in what AXIS will need as it deepens its relationships with global investors.

But her time at Aeolus Capital Management may also bring some benefits to AXIS it seems, especially to its AXIS ILS arm where third-party investor capital is managed in insurance-linked securities (ILS) structures.

Hunter, who is located in Bermuda, will report to AXIS Chief Financial Officer, Peter Vogt, and will also become part of AXIS’ Global Finance leadership team.

“Miranda brings distinctive experience in the (re)insurance and financial industries, including strong relationships with the analyst community and expertise in leading investor relations functions,” explained Vogt. “As we continue our strategic evolution to focus our portfolio on specialty, Miranda will be critical in sharing the AXIS strategy and story with the investment community.”

Hunter had joined Bermuda based reinsurance and insurance-linked securities (ILS) focused investment fund manager Aeolus Capital Management just over a year ago and held the role of Vice President, Operations and Strategic Development at the company.

Her time there will have given Hunter exposure to the ILS market and its investor base, experience that AXIS’ ILS division may be able to leverage going-forwards.

Hunter has also spent time working at consultancies KPMG and PwC, before her time at Validus.
