Envest appoints David Ball Chief Investment Officer

14 March 2023

The Envest Group has appointed Macquarie’s David Ball as Chief Investment Officer and has restructured its existing leadership team as it positions for further expansion.

Mr Ball was with Macquarie Group for more than a decade, most recently as Business and Corporate Banking National Head of Insurance. He will join insurance investment and distribution business Envest next Monday.

“Throughout his career David has supported the growth ambitions of brokers and agencies across our industry,” Envest CEO Greg Mullins said today. “He is young, ambitious, knows our group and the broader market incredibly well and we look forward to leveraging his insights and experience to continue our M&A activity.”

UK-based broker Ardonagh Group last month completed its acquisition of Envest as it continues to build its presence in the Australian market.

Mr Mullins says Envest is positioning for double-digit growth in the next two years and has a team of very experienced insurance professionals.

The management team also includes COO Richard Heilig, Chief Distribution Officer Craig Robson, Head of People Sarah Grant, CFO Elizabeth Walker and Chief Legal and Risk Officer Angela Martin.

Mr Ball will work closely with Mr Robson and Mr Heilig, who will continue to lead the broking and agency businesses respectively.

Brisbane-based Envest’s activities are focused on broking, underwriting agencies and insurance-related investments. In broking it has driven the expansion of Aviso Group.

“Envest has established a point of difference in a competitive market and has a proven track record of attracting quality acquisitions and teams,” Mr Ball said. “I look forward to contributing to the business’s exciting growth agenda.”
