Reinsurance broker Gallagher Re has made a senior hire to its capital markets focused unit Gallagher Securities, with Bart Zanelli set to join the firm as an Executive Vice President within the North American team.

Zanelli is based in New York and will work on a range of capital market activities within Gallagher Securities, the capital markets and insurance-linked securities (ILS) arm of broker Gallagher Re.

His focus will largely be on capital raising and mergers and acquisitions advisory services, while he will report to Jim Bradshaw, Chief Executive Officer, Gallagher Re North America.

Zanelli has a background in reinsurance capital markets and has over 30 years of experience.

His capital markets and reinsurance experience spans both the property and casualty and life sectors, as well as the structuring and offering of both traditional and non-traditional solutions.

Most recently, Zanelli worked as Head of the Insurance Practice at Skyway Capital Markets, where he focused on capital raising and M&A transactions.

Back in 2014 we covered Zanelli’s move to JLT Re from Guy Carpenter’s GC Securities.

He’d also previously worked at Houlihan Lokey as Head of its Insurance Practice, and Fox-Pitt, Kelton as a Managing Director.

“We are excited to have Bart join our North American team,” Bradshaw commented on the hire. “His demonstrated leadership and expertise in capital and reinsurance markets will play a key role in delivering innovative and tailored capital solutions to cedents, and in collaborating with colleagues across Gallagher Re to provide a bespoke client experience from start to finish.”

Ryan Fitzpatrick, Chief Operating Officer of Gallagher Securities, added “His breadth and depth of industry experience and knowledge amplifies our commitment to bring top talent to Gallagher Securities. Bart is a welcome addition to the team.”
