Gallagher swoops for Arizona firm


Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. has announced the acquisition of Arizona-based Viking Bond Service. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 2002 and headquartered in Phoenix, Viking Bond Service is a surety bond agency that specializes in commercial, contract and fidelity bonds for clients across the US.

Under the deal, Viking executive vice president Tom Buckner, vice president Bill Belpedio and their team will report to Kevin Garvin, head of Affinity North America for Gallagher’s retail property-casualty operations.

“Viking Bond Service complements our existing surety offerings and deepens our expertise in this market,” said J. Patrick Gallagher Jr., chairman, president and CEO of Gallagher. “I am very pleased to welcome Tom, Bill and their associates to Gallagher.

Viking Bond Service is the latest in a string of acquisitions for Gallagher. Earlier this week, the broker announced that it had acquired Indiana-based Stewart, Brimner, Peters & Company. At the beginning of the month, it announced the acquisition of Tennessee-based Anderson Benson.
