Insurance veteran takes a seat on Austbrokers Comsure board

Austbrokers Comsure, the largest Queensland brokerage in the Austbrokers network and part of AUB Group, has welcomed insurance industry veteran Mike Ambrosini to its board.

Ambrosini has 55 years of insurance experience. Since entering the industry in 1967 as a junior clerk at MMI General Insurance, he had worked with major insurers, including Zurich, QBE, Suncorp, and Allianz. He also held senior executive roles, including Queensland and Northern Territory branch manager for several insurers and general manager (CTP and dealer division) at Allianz before joining Austbrokers Comsure in early 2018.

Additionally, Ambrosini is a life member of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) and has served on its board, including the president of the Queensland division, chair of three key ANZIIF councils, and a member of a national working party that oversaw ANZIIF’s restructure in 2000.

Commenting on his new role, Ambrosini said: “I look forward to making a meaningful contribution to the strategy for Austbrokers Comsure’s growth and long-term profitability.”

Austbrokers Comsure managing director Ian Garbutt said Ambrosini’s wealth of experience and knowledge will boost the company’s expansion goals.

“Mr Ambrosini’s depth of corporate insurance experience is invaluable as Austbrokers Comsure continues to build on its expansion that began with the merger of three southeast Queensland brokerages in 2020 to create Austbrokers Comsure,” he said, noting that the 2020 expansion continued with Parramatta, NSW-based WRI Insurance Brokers joining the Austbrokers Comsure network in 2022 – making Austbrokers Comsure Australia’s largest broker in the motor dealer industry.
