Probitas 1492 to launch in Australia with cocktail party

30 March 2023

Lloyd’s Syndicate Probitas 1492 will host a cocktail party in Sydney on April 18 to officially open its doors for business in Australia, and launch a new suite of primary products.

The local team will attend the event, introducing service providers and partners, and Head of Financial Lines Paul Nolan will visit from London.

Probitas 1492 writes business across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Central & South America and Canada, with a particular focus on high growth markets.

“Our vision is to be universally recognised as a high profile, culturally diverse, specialist global insurance business and a standard-bearer for Lloyd’s wider geographic growth aspirations,” it says.

“Operating an open and transparent partnership with our brokers, we work closely with them to ensure a valuable end product for the policyholder.”

Syndicate 1492’s underwriting year gross written premium rose 27% to £234 million ($430.98 million) last year. It launched a cyber portfolio in July, set up an office in Manchester to develop UK regional business, and established an operation in Brussels as it initiated the process of setting up its service company in Australia.

Probitas 1492 Country Manager Australia Max Broodryk was formerly P&C Group Risk Management Head of Cyber at Axa and has also held roles at Allianz, QBE and AIG.
