Suncorp’s aerial imagery solution wins award

Suncorp has won “Best use of technology to revolutionise CX (customer experience)” at Ashton Media’s fifth The CX Awards.

Earlier this year, Suncorp claimed an industry first by using artificial intelligence (AI) to crunch images of 9 million Australian homes and sort the image data to aid call centre interactions.

The innovation slashed by half the questions about property characteristics put to customers, such as whether their roof is tile or if they have a swimming pool.

The judges said it was innovative and a “great example of using technology to greatly simplify the customer experience and also drive better business outcomes”.

EGM Digital Distribution Katherine Carmody says she was honoured to represent Suncorp and accept the award at a gala dinner at Sydney’s Royal Randwick on Thursday.

“Suncorp is leading the industry in technological innovation,” she said. “Congratulations to everyone involved in our geospatial program. We are so lucky to have so many talented people, strong leadership and innovative culture.

“Scaling and delivering ideas is our super power with our customers being the ultimate winners.”

The AI models convert the images into data which has been fully integrated into Suncorp’s core systems across all its brands.
