WICC backs Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for Life for 15th year

Women in Insurance Cancer Crusade (WICC) has announced its continued support of the Canadian Cancer Society’s annual fundraising event, Relay For Life.

This year, Relay for Life is set to take place on June 8th in Toronto and June 10th nationally, with WICC chapters present at the events in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, and Montreal.

Funds raised through the event will directly go towards supporting ground-breaking cancer research and providing a national support system to help people cope with cancer diagnoses, according to a press release from WICC.

This year will see WICC participating in the Relay For Life event for the 15th time. The fundraising goal for 2023 has been set at $250,000. Last year, the event raised over $200,000 through donations and corporate sponsor support.

“Whether you’re cheering on survivors, walking the track or participating in exciting trackside activities, Relay For Life has been an unforgettable event for WICC and its participants over the last 15 years,” said Amanda Martin, Relay For Life chair and director at Northbridge Insurance Go. “This year, to keep up with our community’s busy schedules, we will be hosting the event on a weeknight. With this change, we hope to engage with even more members in-person, all while supporting a meaningful cause.”
