HSA vs PPO/EPO + Pregnancy Potential

We are planning on trying for pregnancy in the next year.

Here’s the 2 plans we’re trying to decide between:

HSA:

Premium – $600/yr (employer pays $300/m towards premiums but no employer contribution to HSA)

Deductible – $3400

OOP Max – $6300

Maternity – all services are deductible + 20% coinsurance.

Most other costs are deductible + 20% coinsurance.

PPO/EPO:

Premium – $1320/yr (employer pays $300/m towards premiums)

Deductible – $2000

OOP Max – $4500

Maternity – $60 copay initial office visit, childbirth/delivery professional services $100 copay per visit , childbirth/delivery facility services are deductible + 20% coinsurance.

Most other costs are $20-60 copays, diagnostics is ded + 20% coinsurance.

Live in Florida. We’ve loved the HSA this past year, but I’m not sure if the PPO lower cost outweighs. Husband has previously been on Medishare at $227/m and has never had to use it in the past 2 years. This year, we know he’ll have some medication costs, maybe a couple office visits, and potentially an MRI or CT scan, so we’re considering moving him into whatever plan I do.

From my basic calculations and guesstimates, it seems like the 2 plans would be within $1-2k difference assuming a pregnancy that falls in that whole year. The main thing I’m having trouble sorting is that both plans childbirth/delivery are deductible + 20% coinsurance.

Anything else I’m missing? Opinions? Thanks 🙂
