Me, my wife, and our 3 month old daughter are all on my wife’s insurance through her job. We just completed open enrollment to sign the three of us up for 2023.

However, we aren’t sure if she will be leaving her job sometime in January or February, so we are trying to plan what our insurance will look like if/when she quits.

I live in Washington state, and I make too much money to qualify for state insurance on my own, but I’m not sure if that will change once I’m the sole provider for my family. So I have a few questions:

Do I need private health insurance.

When do I sign up for that? Now? Or after my wife quits?

Will be able to sign up a few months into the new year?

Since I’m already on her insurance right now, I’m not sure what signing up for private health insurance would even look like right now. Would I just pick a plan for the three of us as if we weren’t covered, so that we’d instantly have coverage once she quits?

Whats the best course of action here? Any resources anyone can point me to?

Thank you!
